Seeking Players and Campaign

This post was updated on .
Are there enough members here or where would I need to go somewhere else in which to either start a game or join one using the rules by ArcherofHope? If I would be creating a campaign myself, would anyone have any advice for a first time being GM (Overstallion) using this system?

Also, I have only read the original Fallout: Equestria. Edit: Also Tales of a Junk Town Pony Peddler

My Advice?  I'm gonna be a bit rambly here, so bear with me.

1.  Don't feel limited by what material has already been written.  You may want to look at PH for some setting ideas, but just generally combining Fallout setting with ponies and a little bit of gritty realism can make an awesome campaign.

2. As a new GM, don't be afraid to compromise with players, but realize that each item or piece of gear you give them will have consequences.  They'll always want to get the best gear, the best guns, and enough food to last them 200 years.  It'll be up to you to give them, instead, just enough weapons, armor and food to survive what you throw at them.  Challenge is what makes the game engaging.  Make them earn it, rather than just giving them everything.

3.  Occasionally you may have to use the old GM Fiat to make things not-broken or to keep players from running to the other end of the map from the story you're trying to guide them through, and don't be afraid of that.  At the same time, be aware that your players want an internally consistent setting, and that they like having the ability to 'choose' outcomes for their players, so try and avoid railroading more than is absolutely necessary to keep them on track.

Good luck!  Feel free to PM me if you've got specific questions about setting or things.  I'll help you as best as I can.

Re: Seeking Players and Campaign

I'm assuming PH is short for Project Horizons? I have considered this continuation, though I have had uncertainty. Following the stuggles and adventure of Littlepip is where I started, who I most got to know and come to care about.

Heh, so much so that the ending of Fallout Equestria didn't feel ideal and I disagreed with the author that the mare didn't fit as the Element of Magic. More importantly, the bitter sweet ending left me feeling Littlepip had earned a happier ending for all she had accomplished. She was a uniter, one who banded together the often most unlikely of allies and brought hope and friendship in her own way.

Moving on, I will still consider it and see to perhaps reading Project Horizons if I get the chance. I just wish there was more members here that knew the system and rules. I could gather recruits from MLP Forums, the site I most frequent, and where I play Princess Celestia in the canon section of the forum, though whether or not I could bring them here is left in question.

It may also take me quite a while just to read through the rules, with there being over 600 pages to go over and familiarize myself with. Your rules are easily novel length, so that may be a bit much. Though I will PM you if I have questions.

I'd play and I know my group would like to as well.

As for first time GM, be flexible and be prepared for anything. And I do mean anything, I had a group that Scooby-Dooed the entire campaign in the first session. My best advice, do not script the entire campaign, only major events and even then don't script them well, they will change and change fast. Listen to your players and then implement suggestions that could go well and ignore any bullshit like trying to grow a horn via luck rolls.

Thanks for the advice. I admit I would want my first experience with Fallout:Equestria RPG to be as a player then a GM... so if you and your group might help a newcomer I would like to join another's game.

Still, if you all were willing to bear with me learning the game as we go, I would be willing to try my hoof as an Overstalion.

The only problem I could see is my group is kind of anti-tech. I'll see what I can do though.

I would love it, getting tired of saying, "No, that would be extemely difficult, and where did you get twenty MACs of duct tape?"

That shouldn't be a problem, since the character I have in mind is magic focus not tech focus. The only tech related thing he would most likely have is a gun that he can use in combat to defend himself or others, perhaps overtime becoming a sharpshooter as well an illusionist and mage.

I mean they don't do the internets often, not their forte so to speak. Then again, only two of them aren't fans of the internet, the other two use it on the daily.

Ah, I see. Sorry for misunderstanding. Hmm, well maybe something can be worked out or maybe I will have to go to MLP Forums and rustle up a group.

Now just to let you know, I am used to Play by Post roleplaying. Not sure how you and your group does it, perhaps you roleplay in person or by chat, but I thought I would let you know.

That post says it was sent at 3:06. Regardless, not close. . . I'll try to get them in on forum roleplay. As you are the GM, any house rules I should know about?

I am Eastern Standard Time Zone, which is why you are seeing a different time. I am three hours ahead of you it seems. On house rules, none yet though that may change as I grew more familiar with the rules.

Got it, it's Pacific Standard Time here. Sweet, I was able to convince one friend the other I have been unable to contact as of yet. But besides the point, where will we be holding our sessions? Or will it justbe just whenever someone can reply? No house rules? Good, then I have a character ready to play. I'll type her up tomorrow. You should take a look at my more perks thread, I have a feeling someone in our group will want to use them.

Re: Seeking Players and Campaign

I was kind of thinking we could hold it on here, making OOC (Out of Character) and IC (In Character) threads for the roleplay. We could also perhaps make use of Skype, which may be helpful in some cases such as combat which I know tends to be a bit slow in Play by Post campaigns... at least in Pathfinder. Perhaps combat wont be as complex or long for Fallout Equestria.

I would like to make use of the Interlinking Character Generation System, that was a really fun and interesting way of doing character creation and I would like to see it come into play. I have three characters I am putting together with it, at least the ICGS Path they would follow.

Can't, devices I have can't handle Skype. As for the ICGS, it's cool and all, but I like just filling out the character sheets. Is there a voice chat service we can use? Maybe google hangout? I don't know. Anyway, have you checked out my more perks thread? There are some really interesting and fun ones there. Check them out, if I'm allowed, I plan on taking one or two of them.

I could see to figuring out how to use Google Hangout, though I don't know if it allows for voice chatting. On the other part, you misunderstand. I intended for both the ICGS and character sheets to be used for players creating their characters.

I will take a look at your perks and see if there are any I have a problem with.
